What is the endangered species act?
The Endangered Species Act was established into a law on December 28, 1973 in response to the growing concern for protection of species in danger of extinction. The act protects "endangered" and "threatened" species and the ecosystems upon which they depend.

Purpose: Preserve endangered species so they do not become extinct.
Intension: Keep all species safe and out of extinction.
Included Animals: All threatened species in wild or captivity
Excluded Animals: Captive Chimps
Includes Laws About: "Taking" an animal out of the wild. (Taking- Physically removing a species from it's natural habitat, harming it, killing it, harassing it, or do anything to it that harms its natural being, or ability to sustain life.)
Enforcements: U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Consequence for Violation: A maximum fine of up to $50,000 or imprisonment for one year, or both, and civil penalty of up to $25,000 per violation.
